Committee Members Present: Donna Bushey, Steve Dupree, Kathy LaBare, Helen Martin, Jackie McCarthy, Chris Stromer, Carol Van Riper, Jennifer Whittaker

 

Committee Absent: Keely Dunshee, Laura Hunter

 

Meeting called to order by Kathy LaBare at 3:18p.m.

 

Minutes of 8 June 2010 were approved.

 

Shareholder Reports

            Davis

            -Re-Acquaintance Day well attended

            -Ongoing ELA testing

            -Bus and Fire drills ongoing

            -Bucket Filler with Andre Tower goes well

            -SIC bought books for classroom

           

            Flanders

            --Re-Acquaintance Day well attended

            -Over 200 ice creams handed out by Jack Cummings and Deb Maguire

            -Return to bussing at Flanders smoothing out

            -PBIS kick-off included reteaching

 

            St. Joseph’s

            -PBIS kick off fund raiser with Mr. Money

            -5th grades to Conservation Day at 4H Camp on 23rd

            -Staff meetings held

            -Construction ongoing

 

            Middle School

            -Field trips taken by the 8th grade

            -8th grade celebration and academic awards finalized

            -June Dance is the 12th

            -End of the year luncheon planned

            -MSJ and MMS won tech grants

            -Finding out particulars regarding Race to the Top funds

                        how much, used for?

            -1 Nation March in DC on 1-2 October (labor march)

            -Reconfiguration committee meets tomorrow

            -New contract language affects schedules

            -Waiting for Mr. Walbridge to forward schedules

 

            Parent

            -MMS PTO had 1st dance

                        -Marsha Raville doing ski program

                        -games were bought for home bases

                        -Toys for Tots being done on 5 November

                        -following the email model of Davis for meeting notification

 

            Superintendent

            -Start of year went well

            -2 math consultants hires, Cindy Soper and Paula Walter

            -Lit Planning last Friday, must meet with classroom teachers

            -BOE will appoint Literacy consultants

            -Literacy consultant will prioritize ELA, components of Harcourt, standards

            -Conference call with math consultant Mr. McNamara 

            -Construction projects going well

            -Administrators to meet to go over BEDS, due 1st Wed of October

            -Specials scheduling a concern

            -Concerns about preserving programming and departments

            -Math classroom visits at 2nd and 3rd grade level, focus on vocab

           

Old Business

            -Goal 1-Perception Survey

            -What were results fro the high school?

            -Ask Jerry Griffin to present or send written summary

            -Continue discussion of survey instruments

            -Goal 2-Reconfiguration

            -Committee meets 15 September

            -Reviewing seniority lists and list of what positions are where

            -Goal 3-Comprehensive Strategic Instructional Plan

            -Continue to receive updates from Superintendents office

            -A few glitches in Literacy Plan, RTI, and AIS interventions

            -Elimination of 5th and 8th grade social studies test

            -Look at research of 90-90-90 schools that only do math and ELA core program
