Meeting Minutes, Tuesday, 8 February 2011

Committee Members Present: Donna Bushey, Jack Cummings, Steve Dupree, Kathy LaBare, Helen Martin, Jackie McCarthy

 

Committee Absent: Keely Dunshee, Katie Dupree, Kitty Eldridge, Laura Hunter, Victoria Karleskent, Carol Van Riper

 

Meeting called to order by Jack Cummings at 3:20p.m.

 

Minutes of 11 January 2011 were approved.

 

Receipt of parent rep resignation from Jennifer Whittaker acknowledged.  A thank you for her time will be sent.

 

Shareholder Reports

            -BEST assembly with bucket fillers occurred

            -Concerts at Middle School split between 15th and 16th

            -In school concert on 17th

            -1/2 day afternoon on the 18th with Stephanie Affinito

            -Night of the 18th movie night

            -Interest in an informal survey

            -Jackie McCarthy to acquire sample survey from SPN

            -Need feedback from all schools

            -Consensus was if it doesn’t support a SIC goal, it wasn’t worth the money

           

-Comprehensive Strategic Instructional Plan

            -Donna Bushey to produce an overview for March

            -TERC training is ongoing

            -Formative Assessment was demonstrated

            -6 Traits for Writing is ongoing

           

- Scheduling of Elementary Social Studies and Science

            -A work in progress

            -Marenbloom report not necessarily helpful to elementary level

            -90 minute ELA block, 60 minute math block, integrated writing block
