Recently the New York State Education Department (NYSED) issued notification that our district is in need of improvement due to our students with disabilities scoring lower than the mandated results on last year's Grades 3-8 English Language Art (ELA) assessment. St. Joseph's Elementary School has be designated as a School in Need of Improvement or SINI school as a result of the low academic score by oour students with disabilities. Our academic scores continue to increase and are above the mandated score in all areas except ELA.
You have the right under the Title I federal legislation to possibly access some Supplemental Educational Services (SES) for your child. This potential opportunity has arisen because the school that your child attends has been indentified as a School In Need of Improvement (SINI) due to the aforementioned low ELA score for students with disabilities and economically deprived studentsAttached is a list of vendors approved by the State Education Department to provide Supplemental Educational Services.
If your child is eligible you will be notified by mail to attend a vendor fair to learn more. If you have questions please call Keely Dunshee at 483-7806 or Marcy Bright, Director of Pupil Personnel Services at 483-9487.
