Flanders Elementary School has grade three through five.
- Mrs. Ducharme teaches at both Flanders and St. Joe’s.
- Each class visits the art room once a cycle for 45 minutes to work on basic art skills and developing an appreciation for the artist, history and culture, of other countries.
- One piece of each student’s artwork will be saved in their permanent portfolio each school year and given back to them at their fifth grade awards assembly.
- The art work that will be chosen is a self-portrait and hand print
- The aim of the portfolios is to give each child an overview of their artistic growth though their elementary years. The parents and students really enjoy looking at their son/daughter’s portfolio.

- Then we continue learning about color theory with our color wheel design project.

- Throughout the year the students will work on a color workbook to help reinforce the color theory.

- In the spring we will do a kite project, which teaches that art can be both functional and fun!
- This project has Art and Physical Education working together. The students design and build the kite in the art room. Then the students fly the kites in Physical Education class.
