DEPARTMENT TITLE: Fine Arts/Music Departments

LONG RANGE GOAL: To enhance the curriculum subject areas with the use of Art/Music units specifically created to be “Piggy Backed” on/incorporated with the content in order to provide well rounded/memorable learning experiences for all students.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Collaborate with interested classroom teachers for the purpose of determining what content is appropriate for Art/Music enhancement.
  • Art and Music departments will collaborate to create memorable/cultural learning experiences sharable on occasions such as; classroom presentations, musical productions, the Academic Showcase and any other opportunities that may arise. Acquire computer software (Media Blender/Image Blender or similar program) for the purpose of creating multifaceted audio-visual productions for viewing by students, parents, community, etc.

ASSESSMENT:

1)

  • List of teachers who are willing to collaborate for the purpose of enhancing the curriculum.
  • List of potential units from the teachers.
  • Hard copies of art / music units that can be used to enhance the curriculum areas.

 2)

  • Conducting student surveys.
  • Student works assessed by use of rubrics. 
  • Specific feedback from survey/response forms with the addition of new art/music related questions. (Academic Showcase survey)

3)

  • The acquisition of the software through MCSD teacher requisition, a Teacher Center Grant or other avenues.

BASELINE DATA:

  • Art/Music student survey to be issued at the beginning and end of each quarter.
  • Anecdotal evidence and teacher judgment
