Seniors Timeline

September

* Sign up for October or November SAT or ACT
To sign up on line:
For the SAT use: www.collegeboard.com
When registering for the SAT exam our High School code is
332 980 and our Test Center Number is: 33-576. You will need
these numbers to register! See your counselor regarding
eligibility for a fee waiver.
For the ACT use:www.act.org
When registering for the ACT our High School code is: 332-980
and our Test Center Number is: 181300. You will need these
numbers to register! See your counselor regarding eligibility for
a fee waiver.
* Review college choices and visits with your school counselor.
If you know where you want to apply begin the application
process. Ask your counselor about eligibility for a fee waiver.
* Meet with your counselor to discuss graduation requirements.
* Start checking scholarship and college visitation bulletin boards
for important information. These boards are located just
outside of the Guidance office on the left and right sides of
the door.
* Continue to visit colleges if you have not completed this
process.
* If you are still unsure about career goals, use the career interests websites available on the Links page.
 

October

* Ask teachers and your school counselor for recommendations if
you are applying to private colleges/universities.
* Begin completing college applications. All applications must be
processed through the Guidance Office.

* Write College Essay. For tips on essays go to
www.collegeboard.comstudent/apply/essay-skills/index.html
* Attend Higher Education Night at St. Lawrence University or
Plattsburgh State.
* Register for SAT (if needed) and watch for late registration
deadline.
* Register for the ASVAB if thinking of joining the military-see
your counselor to register.

 

November

* Continue to work on college application.
* SAT Tests Offered.
* Take ASVAB if joining the military.

 

December

* If you haven’t completed your college applications, please do
so during the first two weeks of this month. No applications
will be processed the week before Christmas break.
 *Early decision applications may require an earlier financial aid application and/or an additional form called a Profile at www.collegeboard.com.  Check with individual colleges on their websites or see your counselor.

 

January

* Check with your counselor if you have questions about
graduation requirements.
* Look for letter from the Guidance Department explaining the
details of the Financial Aid workshop to help file your FAFSA
on-line. *Early decision applications may require an earlier financial aid application and/or an additional form called a Profile at www.collegeboard.com.  Check with individual colleges on their websites or see your counselor.
* Continue to check the scholarship board weekly. January
through May is when the majority of scholarships are posted.

 

 

February / March / April / May

* Revisit your final choice colleges and decide the one you will
attend.
* May 1st is the national reply date to notify your 1st choice
college of your intentions to attend school. A nonrefundable
deposit is usually required.
* Remember to send your housing deposit to secure a room.
* Begin the employment search if you plan to go to work after
high school. Seek help from your counselor with cover letters
and resumes.
* Contact a recruiter if you are considering the military.
* Check the scholarship board!
* Review your SAR and submit changes to continue the FAFSA
process.

 

June

* Complete senior surveys in English 12 classes. This survey
informs your School Counselor where to send your final
transcript for the college you will be attending this fall.
* ENJOY YOUR GRADUATION -LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR FUTURE
PLANS.

 

July

* Finalize your Orientation date and begin to make a list for
clothing, furniture and other necessities.
* Your final transcript will be sent to your first choice school
indicated on your senior survey.

August
