Enrichment Activities

Malone Central School District offers many enrichment opportunities for students in Grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. The district supports enhanced learning opportunities at all levels in the form of classroom field trips. At the secondary level, the district provides financial support of extracurricular clubs such as Model United Nations, Forensics, and performing groups from the Music Department.

The district supports advanced academic studies through Project Lead the Way and advanced science and math classes at the middle level. At the high school level, students have opportunities to take Honors, Advanced Placement, and college level courses in the core subject areas. At the intermediate level, the district sponsored an after school rocketry program for students in the fall.

All students benefit from the Performing Arts program administered by Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES. The funds from this program enable the district to offer school-wide and course specific fine arts activities. Some of these activities include visits by authors and artists, musical performances, assemblies, and plays. This year, students have been treated to performances by the Susquehanna String Band and a health and fitness assembly with Jumping Jacks with Jill. Additionally, students attended a musical performance of “Suessical the Musical” at Chateaugay Central School. Besides the large group and school wide activities, visiting artists including a local weaver, have worked with small groups of classes at the elementary and high school levels.

During the upcoming school year, the district proposes to offer virtual field trips and FIRST Robotics, in addition to the existing extracurricular programs currently in place.
